PCI was formed in 1988 to provide consulting support to the petrochemicals, fibres, and their intermediates industries. This scope was soon expanded, through the development of autonomous and focussed companies covering feedstocks, broader petrochemicals and plastics, PET resin, recycling and, most recently, oriented plastic films.

Today the PCI Consulting Group is a unique association of individual specialist companies working in close co-operation to provide a wide ranging and versatile approach to regular support services and custom specific special projects, covering the whole fibres and plastics chains from refinery to finished product.
